We are thrilled to introduce the new RN quiz builder, which will help you use the knowledge you’ve learned using the comprehensive and easy-to-use Osmosis RN Library and assess your learning.

Here’s what’s new!

The Updated Osmosis NCLEX Question Bank

New questions are now available in our quiz builders, all written in the NCLEX-style.

NCSBN will launch a new version of the NCLEX, called Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) in April 2023. In order to measure a test-taker's clinical judgment, NCSBN has developed several new question types. Osmosis is working toward strengthening the quiz builder by creating questions that match each of the new NGN question types.

The NEW Osmosis NCLEX Quiz Builder

This new Quiz Builder will help you to prepare for a nursing examination, supplement classroom/online learning, or discover areas of strength and weakness while preparing for the licensure examination.

How are quiz questions filtered?

These questions are used under the following sections, and can be filtered in different ways within each of these sections:

  • Core Content

  • Nursing Concepts

  • NCLEX Test Plan

  • Cognitive Level

Just a quick overview on these filters:

  • Core Content - These filters are a way for students to select, view, and self-quiz on sets and subsets of questions based upon common components of nursing curricula.

  • Nursing Concepts - It is impossible to learn everything there is to know about health care while studying to become a nurse. Here you can learn about an exemplar within a chosen concept.

Select major filters or subfilters to create a quiz just with questions that fit in that nursing concept.

  • NCLEX Test Plan - The organizational structure for this section is used for the NCLEX examination determined by NCSBN. It defines nursing actions and functions for clients in all settings.

Select major filters or subfilters to create a quiz just with questions that fit in that category.

  • Cognitive Level - These categories lie along a continuum of learning from simple to complex. Questions that are categorized as “Remember” include the ability to recall facts and basic concepts all the way up to “Analyze” which tests the students' ability to draw connections among ideas.

Select filters to create a quiz just with questions that fit in that cognitive level.

Now it’s time to build your quiz:

  1. Go to your Questions Page by clicking on this link or by navigating from your Home page:

2. Customize your Quiz by going through the different filters, and by placing a tick beside the desired topic.

Remember: These are “and” filters. The more checkboxes you select the fewer questions that will end up in your quiz.

The more checkboxes you select, the fewer questions will end up in your quiz.

How do the badges work?

When selected (blue):

The right side, denominator, shows how many total questions from the qbank are attached to that filter.

The left side, numerator, shows how many are available to be in your current quiz.

When unselected (gray)

The left side, numerator, shows at least how many can be in your quiz if you selected it.

Once you’re happy with your selection, at the bottom of the page are options that will further help you with your study experience.

It shows the total number of questions selected, and the estimated time for you to complete the quiz. It also allows you to adjust the max quiz size. Remember to click “Save to Queue” if you’d like to go back to your customized quiz at a different time.

And now you can Build the Quiz!
