At Osmosis from Elsevier, we are committed to providing the best learning experience possible to everyone who accesses our platform. We’re continuously working to make sure our content is accessible to everyone, including individuals facing various disabilities including auditory, cognitive, physical, speech, and visual impairments; we want everyone to feel included and supported in learning with us.

We aim to comply with guidelines set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the U.S. Section 508 Standards of the Federal Rehabilitation Act, in addition to similar standards embraced by countries worldwide.

For a detailed review of how Osmosis supports each of the WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria, please refer to our Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). This document was produced by the Elsevier Digital Accessibility Team and most recently updated 06/2024. This accessibility conformance report is regularly updated to ensure ongoing improvements, with the latest revisions available in our list of recent accessibility updates.

Content

Video

Osmosis is a video-first platform, meaning most of our content is presented as educational videos with accompanying audio, closed captions (cc), and transcripts in English. Spanish language options are available for some products. To increase the size of our transcripts, learners may increase the zoom through their browser.

Learners can pause, play, jump forward/backwards, turn on/off captions, expand to full-screen, and increase/decrease the playback screen through mouse or keyboard controls (listed below). We also offer Picture- in-picture to enable learners to watch while following the content in the transcript below.

Audio

The audio for our videos is adjustable with controls to speed up or slow down the playback speed. Audio descriptions are also available as (cc) and transcripts accompany all our videos.

Notes

Along with videos, we also offer additional content as “Notes”. Paid subscribers can download and print these Notes for offline viewing. Learners may also zoom in and out directly in the Notes viewer as desired.

Interface

The Osmosis website features a responsive design and supports various screen sizes. Additionally, we offer alternative ways of interacting with our app.

Screen readers

Content on Osmosis is largely programmatically determinable, supporting the use of screen readers and other assistive technologies. Many content sections feature meaningful semantic structure and appropriate labels for forms and controls. However, Osmosis is aware of several points of exception and is committed to comprehensively resolving them.

Details on these issues and on the usability of assistive technology are made available in the VPAT.
